Because its wings aren't yet fully grown, it has to hop to get around. It is always staring at something.and xatu's gen 2 entries:
gold: They say that it stays still and quiet because it is seeing both the past and future at the same time.
silver: In South America, it is said that its right eye sees the future and its left eye views the past.
crystal: Once it begins to meditate at sunrise, the entire day will pass before it will move again.i've linked to xatu's bulbapedia page above, and i urge you to look at the pokedex entries for the later generation too.
two other half psychic pokemon from gen 2 are lugia and celebi. both are legendaries and both are really important pokemon. lugia is the main legendary for all of the gen 2 games.
other half psychic types from gen 2 include slowking, girafargig, and smoochum.
now to gen 3. there are a LOT of psychic types from this generation. you can find complete lists here, on the bulbapedia page for the psychic type (pokemon numbered between 252-386) i'm gonna pick out a few that i find interesting.
first up we have gardevoir. from the sapphire pokedex:
Gardevoir has the psychokinetic power to distort the dimensions and create a small black hole. This Pokémon will try to protect its Trainer even at the risk of its own life.which is pretty awesome. i only know this pokemon from the the second pokemon rangers game, so this is new to me. i urge you to go to the page and read all of it's pokedex entries, they'e very interesting.
next we have lunatone and solrock. these two remind me of clefairy in how people think they both come from space. lunatone was found near a meteorite, while solrock supposedly comes from the sun. for lunatone's sapphire entry:
Lunatone becomes active around the time of the full moon. Instead of walking, it moves by floating in midair using telekinesis. The Pokémon's intimidating red eyes cause all those who see it to become transfixed with fear.and solrock's ruby entry:
Solrock is a new species of Pokémon that is said to have fallen from space. It floats in the air and moves silently. In battle, this Pokémon releases intensely bright light.claydol is another pokemon that i find interesting, because it's one of the ones that supposedly comes from an inanimate object brought to life. here's it's sapphire entry:
Claydol is an enigma that appeared from a clay statue made by an ancient civilization dating back 20,000 years. This Pokémon shoots beams from both its hands.to add to that, in Pokemon Rangers: Shadows of Almia, you can only find Claydol in the Hippodown Temple, an ancient temple in the desert. also, four of the ten legendaries in this generation are psychic or half psychic (deoxys, jirachi, latias, and latios). jirachi can grant wishes, and deoxys is a virus that got mutated into a pokemon. check out the pages for all four.
the next (and last) part for psychic pokemon will cover gen 4 and 5!
